TNA iMPACT!
September 18, 2008
Orlando, Florida (iMPACT! Zone @ Universal Studios)
Commentators: Mike Tenay & Don West
The show opens with highlights of No Surrender. Mike Tenay & Don West run down the card for tonight. Samoa Joe's music hits and the champ is on his way to the ring. Joe is sporting a pretty wicked black eye. Joe says Sunday he was taken to the limit by two of the greatest wrestlers in the world: Kurt Angle & Christian Cage. He gives them credit for showing up in the ring and giving everything they have to win the title. Joe says that while they are out their in that ring busting their ass Sting is back at his "estate" having tea parties with his kids. Big "Joe" chant starts. Joe says, "hate me or love me, win, lose, or draw, by God I will die in this ring and I will do it defending this belt. Look at my eye, Sting! When is the last time u bled for this company? When is the last time u sweat for this company? When is the last time you had to sacrifice anything for TNA?” Wow, Joe is getting into this. Joe says while ‘they’ travel the world entertaining the fans Sting sits at home. He says that while AJ Styles doesn’t see his sons, when was the last time Sting missed one his sons football games. Joe asks Sting when the last time he sacrificed anything to be apart of the greatest wrestling company in the world. Joe says that at Bound For Glory it will be Sting showing Joe respect and sticking his hand out for a handshake, but only Joe’s size 13 boot will be there to “kick Sting’s ass all over the ring.” Joe says that at Bound For Glory it’s “showtime” and that it will be Sting’s final bow, and when he takes it he can kiss Joe’s ass. That was a very passionate speech from Joe.In the parking lot Jeff Jarrett pulls up and Jeramy Borash runs up. JB says it seems like JJ has something to say and he says he does have something to say and hopes Sting is listening. Kurt Angle makes his way out to the ring as Mike Tenay & Don West hype up the rest of the show, but stops at the announce table. Angle says that he has a message for Jeff Jarrett and that they will cross paths tonight, and when they do he’ll let him have it. Angle says AJ Styles still has his gold medals and when he walks down that ramp hes going to rip them off his neck and kick his ass.
The Motor City Machine guns music hits and they are on their way down for this very interesting tag match. As they come out Security is trying to remove Angle from ringside.
Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) vs. “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles & “Instant Classic” Christian
CageAJ and Sabin will start the match off. They lock up and brawl into the corner. Styles with a back suplex attempt but Sabin lands on his feet. AJ gets a hammerlock and throws Sabin into the corner. Styles whips Sabin into the opposite corner, Sabin leapfrogs AJ, AJ leapfrogs Sabin, Sabin with a cartwheel ducking AJ, Sabin springboards off the ropes into an arm drag, and AJ comes back with a big dropkick to finish off that exciting sequence. AJ now tags in Christian. They both whip Sabin into the corner and then AJ leaps off of Christian’s back into a Flying Forearm on Sabin in the corner. Christian then climbs the turnbuckles and hits the Corkscrew Back Elbow for a two count. Sabin then hits a spinning back kick to Christian’s gut out of nowhere and tags in Shelley. Shelley & Christian trade forearms until Christian gets the upper hand and hits several chops. Christian whips Shelley into the corner and charges at Shelley, but Shelley gets a big boot up. Shelley climbs up the ropes and this a bulldog followed by a springboard cross body for a two count. Shelley then hits leg kicks and charges at Christian, but Christian hits a Gut buster on Shelley for a two count. Shelley tags in Sabin but Christian immediately hits him with left hands and then whips him into the ropes. Sabin catches himself on the ropes and Shelley throws Christian into the corner. Sabin quickly hits a running kick to Christian’s face in the corner. Sabin starts punching Christian in the corner and then hangs him up in the corner upside down. Sabin tags in Shelley and he hits the baseball slide dropkick followed by the Hesitation Dropkick from Sabin to Christian’s face. Shelley then hits a slingshot Elbow Drop from the ring apron into the ring on Christian for another two count. Christian comes back with a body shot, but Shelley stops him with a head kick. Shelley tags in Sabin. Christian fights them both off and ducks a Sabin Enziguri attempt, and Sabin hits Shelley with it accidentally. Christian then hits the Reverse DDT on Sabin and then tags in AJ. Styles with the springboard double dropkick onto both Machine Guns. AJ then hits a Flying Forearm Splash onto Shelley in the corner followed by a spinning heel kick on Sabin. Sabin comes back with a jawbreaker, but then AJ catches Sabin out of nowhere with that new Armbar submission he used at No Surrender which is an awesome move. Shelley comes in and superkicks AJ breaking up the submission attempt. Shelley then clothesline AJ to the floor while Christian hits a Frog Splash on Sabin. Shelley goes for a Roaring Elbow but Christian blocks it and then hits a modified Fall Away Slam (landing his opponent on his face instead of on the back). Styles then comes in and hits the Springboard Flying Forearm on Shelley knocking him to the floor. Christian then hits a slingshot cross body onto Shelley on the outside. In the ring Sabin goes for the Cradle Shock but Styles revers it into the Styles Clash for the pin! What a great tag match.
Winners: AJ Styles & Christian Cage via pinfall (Styles Clash)
After the match AJ shakes hands with the Machine Guns, but they flick Christian off. Christian is upset and tries to brawl with them while AJ and the referee get in between them. Shelley draws an imaginary line in the ring and dares Christian to cross. Wow, interesting way to finish it. Looks like they are continuing the Machine Guns heel turn and furthering this veterans vs. new generation angle.
After another Abyss highlight video JB is in the back with Booker T. and Sharmell as well as a briefcase Booker is holding. JB asks Booker how he feels about this ‘respect’ issue that’s going around in TNA. Booker says that the disrespect is all over the locker room. Booker says that we all just saw how the Machine Guns disrespected Christian while his own tag team partner, AJ Styles, watched the whole thing. Booker says that’s exactly what Sting is talking about. Booker says that Jay Lethal goes out each and every week and disrespects a legend: “Macho Man” Randy Savage. Booker says that he knows Randy and that he would not take this lying down. JB says that Jay is doing it to honor Savage, but Booker says that’s not honor. Booker says that he will show him honor tonight. JB asks Booker what he thinks about Jeff Jarrett tonight. Sharmell interrupts and says that Booker will watch, listen, and then react. JB then asks Booker whats in the briefcase but Booker tells him not to touch it and kicks him out. Mike Tenay announces that at Bound For Glory The Steel Asylum (formerly known as The Terror Dome) will return!
A video package then highlights it. This should be really good. In the back Lauren is with the new TNA X-Division Champion: Sheik Abdul Bashir. Lauren congratulates Bashir on his X-Title win and then Bashir says something in Arabic. Bashir said the American people cried when the Stock Market fell 500 points and they lost all their money, but they should try losing their life. Bashir then speaks on John McCain and Barack Obama and how they talk about what they can do for America, but wants to know what they can do for him. Bashir says that the X-Title belt is step 1 in his plan to get his life back. Bashir says that he was once a peaceful man, but now there is a deep hatred for America. He says that the X-Division Title is now his hostage and he dares anyone to take it from him. Bashir then asks if anyone is willing to lose everything to come get it from him and says that he knows he is because he has nothing else to lose. Bashir is steadily becoming one of the best promo guys in wrestling.
6-Man X-Division Tag Team Match
“Maple Leaf Muscle” Petey Williams, Johnny Devine & Jimmy Rave w/Lance Rock, Christy Hemme, & Rhaka Khan vs. The Prince Justice Brotherhood (Super Eric, Shark Boy, & Curry Man)
Petey and Shark Boy will start the match off. Petey whips Shark Boy into the corner and hits a big running clothesline. Shark Boy then comes back with the Thesz Press followed by right hands. Shark Boy then hits the forearm and Curry Man tags in. Curry Man hits an Elbow Drop for a two count. Curry Man with jabs and then whips Petey into the ropes, but Petey reverses it and ducks for a backdrop but Curry Man stops and kicks Petey in the head. Curry Man charges Petey but Petey backdrops Curry Man over the top rope. Curry Man lands on the ring arpon and hits a shoulder block on Petey followed by a punch for Devine. Raven then comes over and hits the Rock Bottom on Curry Man onto the ring apron. Petey Williams then hits the slingshot hurricanrana onto Curry Man on the floor. Christy then slaps Curry Man and rolls him back into the ring where Devine is waiting. Devine hits a Snap Suplex and rolls through and whips Curry Man into the corner. Devine then hits a running knee into the corner followed by a flying knee for a two count. Curry Man fights back with elbows and goes for a tag but throws him into the other corner. Petey holds onto Curry Man while Devin runs in for clothesline, but Curry Man moves and Devine nails Petey. Curry Man then hits the Spice Rack but cant capitalize. Curry Man & Devine are finally able to tag out. Super Eric is in now and cleans house. Eric with a powerslam on Petey for a two count before Rave breaks it up. Super Eric & Shark Boy then brawl with Devine & Rave on the outside. In the ring Curry Man and Petey brawl. Petey hits the Tilt-A-Whirl Russian Legsweep on Curry Man and calls for the Canadian Destroyer, but Curry Man blocks it. Devine & Rave then accidentally hit Williams with a double clothesline. Eric then hits a Flying Cross Body off the top onto Petey for the pinfall.
Winners: Super Eric, Shark Boy, & Curry Man via pinfall (Flying Cross Body)
After the match Rave & Devine argue with Petey. Petey pushes Rave and Devine nails him. Devine & the Rock & Rave Infection beat down on Petey, pushing referee Shane Sewell (the one who beat on Bashir). Sewell runs over and attacks them! Rock goes to Chokelsam Sewell but he low blows him. Petey tries to help and they clean house! That’s one bad referee. Earl Hebner is out to yell at Sewell.
In the back JB is with Sting. Sting says for Jeff Jarrett to speak now or forever hold his peace.TNA shows something from earlier in the week where TNA recognizes that Matt Morgan is sending his DNA into space. What the hell?! Someone e-mail me and tell me what this is about. In the back Lauren is with Abyss & Matt Morgan. Morgan apologizes to Abyss about blaming him for hitting him at No Surrender. Abyss starts laughing and says its okay and then starts pulling his hair out. Abyss then offers it as a gift to Matt. Abyss laughs again and Morgan says that when they work as a tag team they are unbeatable. Morgan says there is going to be a Tag Team Invitational Tournament at Bound For Glory and he signed their names. Abyss agrees to it. Team 3D runs out with security trying to hold them back. Brother Ray says that they’re better then they will ever be, and says that No Surrender was a fluke. Brother Ray then says that D-Von was shacked up with a 300-lb white girl and he pulled his groin in the gym (and says “no, not the way you pulled on it last week” to Lauren, stiff). Ray says that hes tired of the disrespect in the locker room and then calls Abyss a mental midget. Ray says that any match their in at Bound For Glory then 3D will be in it. Jacqueline is walking towards the LAX entrance as we go to commercial. Back from commercial Jacqueline is yelling at Hector Guerrero and slaps him twice. Beer Money then runs up from behind and attacks him. They beat down on Hector on the outside and then throw him into the ring. L.A.X. run out and make the save. Beer Money bails out. Traci Brooks has the mic on the ramp and says that shes the “Knockout Law” so shes responsible for her. Traci then says that she wants Jacqueline and Hector Guerrero in Cornette’s office now. TNA’s new edition of Rough Cut is on Roxxi. Another very interesting Rough Cut segment. Am I the only one that thinks Roxxi is the female version of Raven? She even brings the shopping cart out to the ring. In the back Traci and Jim Cornette are with Hector Guerrero and Jacqueline. Traci suggests that next week it will be a 6-Person tag between Beer Money Inc. & Jacqueline against L.A.X. and Hector Guerrero, and the losing team loses their manager for good.
A video package plays highlighting this whole saga between Sting, Joe, etc. and then Stings music hits and the challenger for Samoa Joe’s TNA Title at Bound For Glory makes his way to the ring. Sting says that Joe’s words cut right to the bone while some fans are actually chanting “You Suck!” at Sting. Looks like some fans may be finally turning on Sting. Sting says that Joe is immature and that hes not smart enough to realize whats going on around him. Sting then says while Joe was sucking his thumb he was running up and down the roads 340 days a year wrestling in front of a few hundred people in gyms for $20, 50 on a good day. Sting says that hes done it for 20 years and hasn’t forgotten where he came from. Sting says that he learned his respect along time ago from the very best, He asks Joe what hes going to do 15 years from now, if he has the longevity to go that long, when disrespect gets all in his face. He says that he learned from Magnum TA, Nakita Koloff, Dusty Rhodes, Tully Blanchard, and “Nature Boy” Ric Flair. He says that the disrespect coming in his face make come sooner than later. Sting says that Joe is bigger, faster, stronger, and younger, but he has a few tricks up his sleeve. Sting says ’06 and ’07 Bound For Glory’s were phenomenal, but ’08 “ITS SHOWTIME!” Another great promo from Sting.Back from commercial an eerie video package highlighting a new superstar called Suicide plays.
In the back JB is with Christian and AJ Styles. JB asks AJ why he didn’t help Christian out after the match. AJ tells JB to stop trying to stir the pot. AJ says that he speaks for the both of them and they are both on the same side. Christian then asks AJ what side that would be. Christian then says it seems kind of backwards because Christian is the champ, he calls the shots. Christian then tells AJ to remember who got him in the spotlight and walks off. In the back Lauren is with Jay Lethal. Jay tells Lauren that he doesn’t need hers or anyone elses pity. Lethal says that at No Surrender he was screwed by his ex-tramp. He says that he wants to kill Sonjay & Val and he will if he sees them. Lethal says that Booker T. knows nothing about him and he takes great pride in honoring Randy Savage, and that it pisses him off for what he said. Lethal says that tonight there's going to be a whole lot of disrespecting when he disrespects Booker’s ass all over the arena.
Booker T. w/Sharmell vs. “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal
Jay gets in Booker’s face before the match. The match starts with Booker pushing Jay and Jay hitting a couple big punches. Booker fights back with big knees and chops. Booker whips Jay into the corner but Jay leapfrogs him and hits a big back elbow. Booker then hits a charging Jay Lethal with a back elbow of his own. Lethal with an arm drag and then clotheslines Booker to the floor! Jay then goes for the Suicide Dive but Booker moves and Jay is able to change into a slide to the outside instead. Booker then hits a backick followed by a slap to Jay. Booker then attempts to whip Booker into the ring but Lethal reverses it! Lethal with chops and then throws Booker into the guard rail. Lethal throws Booker back into the ring and hits a springboard Missile Dropkick. Lethal climbs to the top and Sharmell distracts him. Lethal goes for a flying Axe Handle but Booker counters in midair with a back heel kick. Booker with chops in the corner on Lethal now. Lethal fights back with body shots but Booker comes back with more knee attacks. Booker goes for a superkick but Lethal ducks and hits jabs. Booker comes back with an eye rake and then punches away at Lethal’s head. Booker gets a two count. Booker locks in a elbow lock but Lethal fights back, but Booker hits him with another back heel kick. Booker goes for the Axe Kick but Lethal moves and hits several chops. Booker with another knee and goes for a back suplex, but Lethal lands on his feet and hits a big flying forearm and another one. Lethal then goes for a big clothesline, but Booker blocks it and hits a spinning elbow to the gut. Booker whips Lethal into the ropes and goes for a hiptoss but Lethal counters it into one of his own and follows up with a handspring into a basement dropkick for a two count! Lethal runs the ropes but Sharmell trips Lethal up allowing Booker to hit the Axe Kick for the pinfall. Great match but crappy finish.
Winner: Booker T. via pinfall (Axe Kick)
In the back The Beautiful People and Kip James are with Lauren. Kip says that Rhino has stuck his ‘horn’ in their business one too many times. Angelina is crying and Lauren asks her whats wrong. Angelina says that she woke up with a blemish (pimple) today. Velvet says that the Beautiful People don’t get pimples. Angelina says that she is going to see her Dermatologist.
Mixed Tag Team Match“War Machine” Rhino & Taylor Wilde vs. Kip James & Velvet Sky
I refuse to call Kip “cute,” I just wont do it. Kip James is actually wearing a TNA Knockout t-shirt. Tenay finally gives us a reason as to why Rhino has been bailing Taylor out. He says that when Taylor was an independent wrestler she wrestled a lot in the Detroit, Michigan (Rhino’s hometown) area and became friends with Rhino. Better than nothing I guess. Taylor & Velvet start the match off. Taylor goes for a clothesline but Velvet ducks and then yanks her down by the hair and quickly starts unloading punches on her. Velvet then rubs Taylor’s face into the mat. Taylor hits an arm drag followed by another one and Velvet tags in Kip while Taylor tags in Rhino. They lock up and Rhino gets in a headlock. Kip pushes Rhino into the ropes but Rhino hits a shoulder block. Kip then goes for a hiptoss, but Rhino blocks it and goes for a clothesline. Kip ducks and Rhino hits chops to Kip’s chest. Velvet knocks Taylor down and Angelina Love runs out and hands a steel pipe to Velvet. Velvet misses with the pipe and Taylor hits a big leg kick followed by a modified cradle for the pinfall!
Winners: Rhino & Taylor Wilde via pinfall
After the match The Beautiful People and Kip James attack Rhino & Taylor. Kip hits the Fameasser on Rhino and they celebrate. Taylor then hits a double clothesline on the Beautiful People. Kip gets back in the ring and gets in Taylor’s face as Awesome Kong’s music hits. Taylor dares her to get in the ring but Taylor comes off the top rope with a Flying Cross Body onto Kong on the floor before she can! Back from commercials and The Beautiful People are paper bagging Rhino & Taylor. They show how Kong made the comeback during commercials throwing her into the guard rail. Looks like the Awesome Kong/Taylor Wilde feud is back on.
A video package highlight Jeff Jarrett now plays.
Double J’s Return Promo
Jeff Jarrett’s music hits and he makes his way back to the ring for the first time in a long time on Impact. Jarrett grabs the mic as the fans chant “Welcome Back” to him. Jeff looks to be getting emotional already. He says that after watching whats been going on the last few weeks he felt like he had to address things. He says that 6 years ago when you watched TNA you weren't just watching Jeff Jarrett the wrestler you were watching Jeff Jarrett the founder of TNA Wrestling. He says that when WCW went out of business he had a vision of a wrestling origination that gave young hopefuls a big break. He says he started in this business when he was 16 and knows better than anyone how tough it is to get break. Hes says that he wanted TNA to be a place for young guys that deserved a big break. Jeff says that a big thank goes to the big lord, his wife Jill, a great financial partner, and the millions of fans around the world, and here we are 6 years later. Jeff thanks the fans now. The fans chant “Thank You, Jeff.” He then calls Sting out. Sting’s music hits and “The Icon” doesn’t make Jeff wait long. Jarrett says that they have been in this game a long time and that his father is the one that gave Sting is big break and hes proud of it. He says that his father extended a helping hand to Sting like Jeff is trying to do with the young guys today. Jeff says that he has been listening to Sting the last few months and says that he is “full of crap.” Sting says that all this is a smoke screen with the disrespect issue. Jarrett says that his dream has become a reality because of those young guys like Samoa Joe and AJ Styles. He says that there have been times during this company that guys like Joe & AJ carried this company and every step of the way they showed him respect. Jeff says that WCW went out of business because the veterans wouldn’t pass the torch because they wanted to hold their spot. He says this isn't about disrespect, its about them nipping at Sting’s heel. Jeff says its about guys like Sting, Kurt Angle, & Booker T. wanting to take, take, take and not give anything. Jeff says that this isn't WCW and hes not going to stand for it. Kurt Angle’s music now hits and he makes his way to the ring. Kurt asks Jeff to explain why he’ll talk to Sting face to face but about him behind his back. Jeff talks about how he had to step away a few years ago and how he hand picked Kurt Angle to replace him, but it was the worst decission he ever made. He says hes ashamed that Kurt has lost his family, his title, and the only thing he has left is his dignity. Kurt says that the only reason that Jeff left 2 years ago was because he was over the hill and Sting kicked his ass then. Kurt questions Jeff’s heart and says that Kurt is a younger, better version of him. Kurt says for 2 years he carried the company not AJ or Joe or anyone else, and not once did Jeff ever thank him. Kurt then calls Jeff and all the fans assholes. Kurt then challenges Jeff to a match at Bound For Glory. Jeff says that he came out here has the founder of TNA not a wrestler and he doesn’t have anything else to prove. Kurt stops him and says since hes not a wrestler then to get out of his ring, the ring is for wrestlers not washed up hasbeens. Jeff tells Kurt not to push him and points at the big video screen where a Smiley Face with barbed wire wrapped around it is shown and “BANG, BANG” is screamed over the speakers! Mick Foley is in the back waving at Kurt! Mick asks Kurt if he remembers him and says, “What Jeff is trying to say is it’s real, its damn real! BANG BANG!”. Wow talk about a crazy ending.

At that point Jarrett directed everyone to the video screens where Mick Foley appeared saying, "Bang! Bang!" Angle had a shocked look on his face at the end of the taping.

· Here are the results from Tuesday Night’s ECW on Sci-Fi…
ECW on Sci-Fi
Nashville, TN
September 16th 2008
Commentators: Todd Grisham & Matt Striker
Matt Hardy is making his way to the ring and we are set to kick-off what is sure to be an electric ECW!
Matt Hardy v. Mike Knox
The crowd is once again heavily behind Matt Hardy. Knox backs Hardy into the corner and the Hardy Boy locks in a side headlock. Knox tries to side slam out of it but Hardy just drags him back down to the ring to continue the hold. Knox now locks in a side-headlock of his own. Knox runs to the ropes and hits a shoulder block. Hardy gets up and hits a couple of punches which sends Knox to the corner. Mike comes charging out with a big boot to Hardy’s face. Knox hits a scoop slam and then drives his knee down on the grounded Hardy boy. Matt’s in the benter of the ring and Knox applies a headlock. Hardy is whipped in to the corner and successfully Knox down to the mat and then hits a splash. Knox is back up and hits a fast scoop slam but the pin attempt is futile. Hardy tries for a small package but Knox powers out. Mike Knox hits a very hard lariat but Matt is able to get up before the pin. Matt makes Knox stutter thanks to a couple of kicks and punches and then hits the EPIC elbow from the second rope! Matt is pumping up the crowd and goes for a Twist of Fate but instead hits a really sick DDT. Knox is able to break up the pin by getting his foot on the bottom rope. Knox slides to the outside and Hardy follows. Both go for clotheslines and collapse together on the floor!
****Commercial****
As we come back Mike Knox has Matt Hardy on the ground in the middle of the ring with a headlock applied. Matt gets up and Knox hits a nice looking drop kick. The headlock is applied once again. One week I should count how many times wrestlers lock that move in each week on ECW because this is just ridiculous. Knox hits a side slam and goes for the pin but gets nothing. Same deal again doesn’t get to the three count. Knox lifts Hardy up to the third rope and tries to go up after him. Hardy kinda misses the moonsault, not sure what that was. Knox goes for the cover but Hardy kicks out.Knox is now working hard on Hardy and backs him into the corner. Knox tries to hit a running boot in the corner but Hardy is able to dodge and hit the Side-Effect! Hardy follows this up with a neck breaker and then a DDT from the second rope! Hardy is really working the crowd now and he hits the Twist of Fate!
Winner via Twist of Fate: Matt Hardy
In the back Tony Atlas is with Mark Henry. Atlas says that Matt Hardy is looking impressive and Henry verbally tears him apart for saying that. Saying the only reason that Hardy was able to win his match was thanks to Finlay and Hornswoggle’s help.Up Next: Miz & Morrison!
****Commercial****
Miz w/ John Morrison v. Evan Bourne w/ Ricky Ortiz
The two lock up in the ring and Evan Bourne slaps Miz and follows it up with some elbows. Bourne is whipped to the ropes and jumps over the apron, Miz comes running and is met with Evan’s shoulder which results in Bourne springing over the top rope for a spinning arm drag! Miz dodges a punch and kicks Bourne through the ropes to the outside! Miz slides out and lifts Bourne up and slams him into the barricade and then the ring apron. Miz now has Bourne back in the ring and has done a successful job of grounding the high flyer. Miz locks Bourne up in what appears to be a sideways surfboard. Regardless of what it is it looks like it hurts. Bourne manages to somehow attempt a roll up, but it is unsuccessful. Miz flips poor Bourne inside out and things aren’t looking good for Evan as he is locked into an abdominal stretch. Evan hits a really high kick and Miz flops down to the ring. Bourne hits a beautiful hurricarana followed by a standing moonsault. Miz is grounded and Bourne goes up to the top rope but Miz throws him off the top rope to the mat. Miz bounces off the top rope and hits some sort of spinning leg drop which was impressive in its own rite. Ricky and Morrison start acting up on the outside which causes a distraction which allows Bourne to lock in a crazy looking rollup that succeeds!
Winner via Rollup: Evan Bourne
****Commercial****
Jack Swagger v. Chase Stevens
Chase Stevens! Jack Swagger starts the match off with a huge spinebuster that rocks the arena. Chase Stevens gets up and lands some punches but is backed into the corner and Swagger chucks him via his neck across the ring. Swagger hits a gut wrench and Striker loves him. Swagger hits a vicious slam and is just demolishing Chase Stevens. Swagger hits the Blue Thunder Bomb and the former Natural did not have a very good night.
Winner via Blue Thunder Bomb: Jack Swagger
****Commercial****
Mark Henry w/ Tony Atlas v. Finlay w/ Hornswoggle
Mark Henry is big, strong, and ready to demolish his opponent. Finlay comes to the ring with a leprechaun. I love it. Finlay keeps getting behind Henry which keeps resulting in him getting squashed into the corners. Henry has the clear power advantage which is not that usual during Finlay matches. Henry keeps gets chucked down to the mat and has to resort to speed in order to break up and counter moves. Finlay is on the mat and Atlas gets in a cheap shot, what a jerk. Mark Henry throws Finlay to the outside and things aren’t looking so good for the Irish Legend.
****Commercial****
Henry locks in a vice grip and Finlay is hurting. Mark is just stomping and stepping on Finlay’s face. This forces the Irishman to roll out of the ring but Henry follows and slams Finlay’s head into the apron. Henry does some more stomping and tossing and then locks in a chin lock. Henry now locks in a bear hug, and Finlay, well Finlay may be about done. Finlay somehow manages to duck a splash in the corner and tries to throw everything he can at Mark, but Henry lays him out with a clothesline. Finlay is driven to the mat but dodges an elbow drop. Finlay slides to the outside and traps Henry’s head in the ring apron!Atlas is on the outside and takes a blow at Hornswoggle which was a bad idea as Finlay comes after him. Tony is trying to get away as Henry slides out near ‘swoggle. Finlay takes the distraction to hit Henry with the I.F.O.! [Irish Foreign Object]. Finlay counters out of a bearhug and goes for the pin and almost gets a three! Finlay hits a buttplant and tries to lock in armbar but is splashed front into the corner, twice. Henry hits the World’s Strongest Slam and it’s over!
Winner via World’s Strongest Slam: Mark Henry

WWE Raw September 15, 2008

Commentators: Michael Cole and Jerry “The King” Lawler
World Heavyweight Championship — Steel Cage Match
Chris Jericho v. CM Punk
Punk started off as a ball of fire, going right at Jericho taking him down and absolutely tearing apart his midsection, keeping with the theme of Jerich’s weakened mid section through the last couple of weeks. Punk whipped Jericho to the corner hard before landing some knees. He whipped Jericho again, who attempted to scurry up the cage to escape. Punk caught him and knocked him off the top rope and he, himself attempted to climb over the top but was thwarted by the champion. The two plopped down to the ring where Punk continued to absolutely punish Jericho with strikes before taking his head off with two particularly surly moves, a wheel kick and the knee-bulldog combo. Punk went for GTS but Jericho held onto the top rope. Punk eventually gave up on trying to hit his finisher and instead elected to dump the champion into the cage. Jericho bounced off the cage and lay in a heap on the ring apron as Punk checked his face.
****Commercial****
We can back to Jericho being in control, gaining the momentum by spiking Punk’s knee on the mat over the break. Jericho slapped on an ankle lock before Punk spun out with a big enziguiri. Punk was favoring his leg at first but then started dishing out some big kicks. He bounded off the ropes, only for Jericho to catch him coming in by the legs, rolling him over into the Walls of Jericho.Punk writhed in pain as he inched towards the door. Punk actually got halfway out the door and this is a fantastic ‘near fall’ for a cage match. Punk got one leg free only for Jericho to slam the cage door shut on his face. Jericho dragged him back to the middle of the ring and got a two count for his efforts. The World Champion worked Punk over on the mat, going back to the leg, which helped him gain the advantage in the first place. He hammered away at Punk’s face with some punches before hot dogging for the crowd a little bit. The stalling cost him, as he was met with Punk’s knees when he went for the lion sault.Punk leapt to his feet and began laying in some super-mean looking kicks. Punk bounded towards Jericho in the corner, but Jericho side stepped him and sent him reeling into the corner of the cage. The commentators are putting over the concussion Punk received at the hands of Randy Orton a few weeks ago. Jericho began to ascend the cage and got to the top but Punk caught him by the ankle. Punk laid Jericho across the top of the cage and went for a TOP OF THE CAGE GTS, but Jericho elbowed out. The two battled it out on the top rope before sending each other crashing to the mat. Punk crawled towards Jericho and hooked the leg but only got a two count. Jericho fought back and sent the challenger hurling into the cage again leaving him out on his feet. Jericho again attempted to escape, and again, Punk caught him. Punk perched Jericho on his shoulders and fell back into a thunderous electric chair drop and both men are out. Jericho crawled for the cage door but Punk dragged him back and leapt over him and attempted to escape himself. The two tussled at the door before Jericho rammed into Punk’s head and fell back out the entrance and to the floor. Right place at the right time yet again.
Winner and STILL World Heavyweight Champion: Chris Jericho
Batista is watching Chris Jericho back stage and looks less than impressed. Kane will face off against Rey Mysterio later tonight!

Raw GM is in the back with Kelly Kelly. Dal Singer (sp?) walked up and introduced himself before Jericho walked in. Mike told him not to rest on his laurels as he needed to get ready for No Mercy. Jericho said Mike needed to learn how to take care of his champion. Adamle said that was fair enough and they walked off. Kane’s got the old mask on. He said years ago, he was in a position where he was forced to remove his mask. He said the truth was, that no one forces him to do anything and he took it off for all of us, so he would finally be accepted, but that didn’t happen. He said everywhere he went, he saw people pointing at him. He didn’t like it and knew people were repulsed by him, and he was repulsed by them. He saw a man like Rey Mysterio, a man who didn’t have the courage to do what he did. He said the people loved him and why, because the people hid behind their own masks of self-righteousness. Deep down he knew they were scared to let us know who they really were. When he attacked Mysterio, he was attacking each and every one of them.Evan Bourne walked in. He said he couldn’t wait to watch Rey beat him tonight. Kane laughed at him and Bourne walked off. Jillian’s singing us some Elvis and it’s brutal. Up next, Candice will take her on.

Good lord, she’s still going.
Jillian Hall v. Candice Michelle
Beth followed Candice down to the ring and for her efforts got a booby shot. The two locked horns in the middle of the ring and Candice grabbed a side headlock take down. Jillian threw her off momentarily only to get stuck again before eating a shoulder block and a kick to the mouth. She leapt off the ropes with a wheel kick for a two count. She attempted a crucifix but got slammed to the mat for a quick cover attempt.Jillian heeled it up with some hair yanking and cheap shots before tossing her into the corner and choking her out on the bottom rope with her boot. Jillian kept up the pressure with a throw and a full nelson, but Candice kicked out of it. Jillian hit a snap mare before slapping on another full nelson. Candice hit a kick to the grill before the two exchanged some strikes. Candice took Jillian down a few times before hitting a drop kick and attempted to psyche a dead crowd up a bit.Candice dodged her in the corner and hit a take down for a two count. Jillian rolled out of a headlock attempt and hit a back suplex before pounding away with forearms that backed Candice into the corner. Jillian cape flying in and went for the cartwheel elbow but Candice caught both arms on the way in and hit the candy wrapper for the win.
Winner: Candice Michelle via pin fall
Candice invited Beth into the ring for a little scuffling fun but Beth doesn’t seem too eager. Candice caught her with a drop kick on her way into the ring and knocked her out before she could get in. Beth’s none to pleased and Candice is walkin’ tall.

JBL’s in a bad mood and it looks like he’s going to take it out on Tommy Dreamer.
JBL v. Tommy Dreamer
The two locked horns before JBL took an immediate advantage, landing a series of rights before ramming Dreamer into the corner and hitting a hard body slam. JBL capped off the onslaught with a boot to Dreamer’s face.Dreamer avoided him in the corner and hit some right hands before dishing out a swinging neck breaker for a two count. The two cris crossed in the ropes before JBL absolutely decapitated him with a clothesline from hell. That’s all folks.
Winner: JBL via pin fall
JBL’s ticked about the stock market (so am I) and gathered a steel chair. He unfolded it and sat down in it watching Dreamer squirm out of the ring and asked for a mic. He says he’s not leaving the ring until Mike Adamle makes him the #1 contender right now.

JBL is rambling in the ring. He demands Adamle make the right decision before Randy Orton’s music hits and he gets TREMENDOUS heat before making his way down to the ring. JBL looks shocked. Orton said a few weeks ago he gave his evaluation of Raw and that was the reason he made sure CM Punk didn’t keep his championship. He said JBL wasn’t much of an improvement. He said the Age of Orton was halted by injury but when it resumed, it didn’t matter who was champion on Raw, because he’d win his title back. He said finally, there’ll be a champion on Raw who actually has some credibility. He said he didn’t care.....Intercontinental Champion Santino Marella’s music hit and he came down to the ring with Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix and they don’t look happy. This is going to be sensational. Marella asked him who he thought he was. He said unlike Randy Orton, they WERE champions. Unlike him, they were healthy. He said he was always injured just like his Dad. He put over Orton’s Dad having a cast on his arm for years. His dad was healthy and although he had ‘the herpes’, he managed it well. He said they represented a new age of champions unlike Orton. He demanded an apology.Orton asked if he expected him to respond to that. He blathered on before JBL interrupted and demand he apologize... not to anyone... to him. He said Orton and his shoulder were irrelevant. He said he did something Orton couldn’t do, and with one clothesline from hell, he knocked out Batista. He said tonight was his time and he’d be here until he got his title shot. He told him to take the bass out of his eye balls before he gets hurt yet again.Batista’s music hit and he came sauntering out to the ring. He cackled and said this was the most pathetic site he’d ever seen, making a bunch of promises they couldn’t keep like politicians. HE said you could put lipstick on a pig.. and looked at Beth.Batista proposed he take on JBL for a shot at the title. He said after he beat Jericho, he would beat guys and keep beating them until Orton came back and put the cherry on top. Santino asked him if he was forgetting someone. Batista said he was sorry and said if Beth wanted a shot, she could have one, too. Batista said he was tired of talking, and egged JBL on. Mike Adamle popped up on the screen. He said he’d take into consideration their thoughts as well as World Champion Jericho’s considerations as to who the #1 contender should be. He said for now, he was just going to wait until he made the official announcement later tonight. Batista said he was pleading his case right now. He jumped JBL and Santino attempted to interject himself only to eat a spine buster.HOLY CRAP STAREDOWN BETH PHOENIX - BATISTA! She slapped Batista across the face a couple of times before he spin bustered her on top of Marella. Both are dead and JBL’s already fled. Randy Orton walks past the priceless crew in the back and they exchange a stare.

Manu, Cody Rhodes & Ted Dibiase v. Kofi Kingston, Jerry Lawler and Charlie Haas (who thinks he’s JR)
Manu powered Kofi Kingston around the ring for a little while. Cody is working over King on the mat while Charlie’s putting over Stone Cold on pay per view... Jesus JH is in the ring landing big left hands and a big boomer sooner right hand followed by a drop kick. The gut is flopping and he hits thesz press and lines it up for a boomer sooner big splash for a near fall.Rhodes is getting PUNCHED~ but Lawler and Kofi’s taken out Manu, but Dibiase hits a leg sweep take down after Charlie tried a Oklahoma Stampede, for the win. What a fun little match.
Winners: Ted Dibiase, Cody Rhodes & Manu via pin fall
The Smackdown rebound aired.JBL approached Chris Jericho in the locker room. He said he knew they weren’t the best of friends... Jericho cut him off. He said he knew what JBL was all about. He remembered when he cost him the title deliberately last year. He said Adamle valued his opinion for one reason, because he was the champion. He said just like the stock market, JBL’s chances of a title shot were crashing down. JBL laughed and said ‘we’ll see’.

Jamie Noble v. Paul Burchill
Noble went right at Burchill with strikes and kicks, knocking the large Englishman to the mat and connecting with a host of strikes and stomps. Noble kept at it with some head butts before he ate a knee to the gut that tossed him back.Burchill went at Noble and whipped him to the ropes only to miss on the follow through. Noble hit a springboard roll up into a nasty looking arm bar and Burchill taps out!
Winner: Jamie Noble via submission
Leyla interrupted and says last week was a difficult decision and situation for her. She apologized that it took this long to get rid of him. Where was he going to take her? TO the local waffle house? It was over. She found a man who was worthy of her and here comes William Regal. Regal took the mic and said it wasn’t noble she wanted, it was nobility. He gazed into her eyes and escorted her to the back. Noble is crushed. Batista stormed into Mike Adamle’s office and asked him if he was #1 contender. Lance Cade asked him what made him think he was #1 contender. Batista slammed him up against the door and said he didn’t remember asking him his opinion on anything. He set him down gently and straightened him up before walking off. Rey v. Kane is next!
****Commercial****
Kane v. Rey Mysterio
Mysterio stuck and moved in the opening moments, looking to use his speed to his advantage. Kane quickly caught him though and whapped him in the mouth with a big right hand before Rey caught him with a boot and followed up with a hurricanranna attempt but Kane blocked it. Rey pounded him to the mat and hit a drop kick to keep Kane off balance but quickly ate a HUGE right hand in the teeth.Kane kept up the punishment, hitting a series of boots to the head. Kane tossed him to the outside before running around, baiting Kane. Kane’s frustrated.
****Commercial****
Mysterio fought out of a rear chin lock only to get slammed to the mat with one arm. Kane missed an elbow drop before Mysterio pounded away at him in the corner. Rey just isn’t able to keep it up for a long enough period of time. Kane tossed Rey right into the ring post and he’s in control for sure now. Kane stomped away on Rey in the corner before whipping him clean off his feet into the corner. Kane dug his knee into Rey’s back, before picking him up and hitting a crippling back breaker. Kane stretched Mysterio out over his knee as the crowd tried to rally to Mysterio’s aid. Rey tried to battle back only for Kane to quickly regain his bearings and begin laying a beat down on him in the corner. Kane missed another follow through enabling Mysterio one more opportunity. He hit a bulldog and neck breaker for a one and a half count. Rey hit a hurricanranna into the corner and set up for something off the top rope. He climbed to the top rope and went for a body press, but Kane caught him. Rey wiggled out and hit an ezeguiri and Kane’s in la la land on the ropes. Rey went for the 619 but Kane turned around and absolutely smashed him to pieces with a lariat. Kane hit some more stomps in the corner and isn’t stopping. The referee is trying to step in but Kane doesn’t care. He just keeps stomping. Rey’s defenseless.
Winner: Kane via ref stoppage
Kane tried to rip Mysterio’s mask off before Evan Bourne showed up and tried to make a go of chopping the big man down. Bourne to the rescue. Del Singley is introducing himself to Chris Jericho and Lance Cade in the back. Jericho’s in suit and on his way to learn who his #1 contender is when we come back.

Jericho thanked Mike Adamle for his consideration and taking his recommendations. He said it wasn’t something that should be taken lightly. In his opinion, neither JBL or Batista were worthy of a shot at his title. He suggest that the two face each other one on one before facing him immediately afterwards. The fans say it might not be fair, but Jericho said that both times he won the belt, he had to wrestle twice. He was the best in the world and deserved his title. He suggested Mike do the right thing and make his input actually happen at No Mercy.Mike Adamle said he heard him out. He said it was more than fair. He said JBL & Batista would face each other for the #1 contender’s spot. However, he didn’t think they should face each other twice in the same night. He said the winner would face the champion, but not on that night. He said he entertained everyone else’s opinion but had settled on someone else to face Jericho. Adamle walked off as we waited for his opponent for the title. Shawn Michaels.Jericho looks baffled. Michaels is sort of laughing. He said that he knew what Chris was thinking. That they’ve already fought in regular and unsanctioned matches, at Wrestlemania, everywhere. Michaels there was only one other match that could allow him to permanently disfigure him in only ways he could imagine. He said there was a match some people say he put on the map. He said it was a match that he revolutionized. He wants Jericho, for the title, in a ladder match. Michaels stared menacingly down at Jericho in the ring as we headed off the air.

Pro Wrestling
· Once again, I don’t watch ROH, but here are some ROH results…from Japan…
1) YAMATO defeated Eddie Edwards in what might be Eddie's best match in ROH (not taking anything away from the Roderick Strong one at the Hammerstein)
2) Austin Aries defeated Ryo Saito in another good match in about 13 minutes. Afterwards, Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black attacked Aries and Jacobs put him out with the End Time. Jacobs then basically said that The Age Of The Fall would cause chaos in Japan.
3) Larry Sweeney was irate that Edwards lost and went off on the Japanese fans, earning their boos. Sweeney then called out Roderick Strong to wrestle Davey Richards. Strong defeated Richards in 25 minutes in a very hot match. These two tore the house down and the fans were really into it. Strong had some words for Kensuke Sasaki on the mic after the contest to build up tomorrow's match. Davey is a monster now.
4) El Generico scored a huge win as he teamed with Shingo & Dragon Kid to defeat Naruki Doi, Masato Yoshino & BxB Hulk in about 22 minutes. This was awesome and right up there with all the Dragon Gate six mans. I just sat in the crowd and really enjoyed this one as I love this style of match. Hulk and Shingo had some wicked exchanges and everyone was on in this one.
5) Bryan Danielson defeated ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness in a non-title match in about 22 minutes. This started as a very technical match and built into a hard-hitting match. The fans really loved it. Another great match in the series between these two. After the bout, Bryan got on the mic and said he just defeated the ROH World Champion and tomorrow he will go after the GHC Jr. Heavyweight Title.
6) Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black defeated Jay & Mark Briscoe to retain the ROH World Tag Team Titles. This match was a total brawl that got some "holy s***" and "ROH" chants from the Japanese fans. The final three matches all contrasted each other perfectly.
· Now, we got a TNA House Show…
TNA House Show Results - 9/13/08
Location: London, Ontario, Canada
Thought I'd let you know what happened tonight at the John Labatt Center. Here are the results but not necessarily in the order they were on the card.
Eric Young vs. Petey Williams vs. Johnny Divine.
Eric Young took the Canadian Destroyer almost immediately and then turned into Super Eric under the ring and came back in and scored the pinfall. I believe he pinned Johnny Devine. No title change as it was a non title match.
Taylor Wilde pinned Angelina Love when special referee Traci Brooks pushed Love for getting in her face. Taylor rolled her up as she was falling back and pinned her.
Beer Money beat Motor City Machine Guns with a low blow to retain their titles.
AJ Styles beat Sheik Abdul after hitting him with the Styles Clash.
Rhino gored and then pinned Abyss. They shook hands after the match and then Abyss hit Rhino with the black hole slam.
Consequences Creed beat Sonjay Dutt.
Kurt Angle came out and said he wished he was fighting but he wasn't and he said TNA would be back and he promised he'd be on the card and they'd be taping for Spike TV.
Samoa Joe beat Christian Cage. When it was over Samoa Joe hyped TNA saying how hard everybody worked. Christian took the mic and said "This is the way we do it in Canada" and announced Joe as still the heavyweight champion.

· Another ROH Event in Japan…
1A) In the dark match Tetsuya Naito & Yujiro defeated Genba Hirayanagi & Kotaro Suzuki in a wild match. This will be a bonus on the DVD of tonight's event.
1) The lights went out and the music started and the ROH show was underway. Austin Aries crashed Bobby Cruise's open and after the happenings of last night demanded that his match against Tyler Black start immediately. Aries defeated Black with the Last Chancery, but after the match Jimmy Jacobs put out Aries with the End Time and promised more chaos and said that he would win the World Title in the main event.
2) Kazushi Miyamoto defeated Eddie Edwards when Larry Sweeney's interference backfired. The fans really got into Sweeney. After the match it looked like Sweeney and Edwards might have been on the outs, but they made up with a big hug. The Japanese fans really reacted to that.
3) Taiji Ishimori defeated El Generico in a really athletic match.
4) Davey Richards debut his new finisher to earn him and Takeshi Morishima a win over Jay & Mark Briscoe. After the match, Jacobs and Tyler Black attacked The Briscoes.
5) Bryan Danielson defeated Yoshinobu Kanemaru to win the GHC Jr. Heavyweight Title in just over 20 minutes. This was a great match and I was fortunate to just sit in the crowd and watch it. The fans were really behind Bryan and when he won they were overjoyed and surprised. It was really a genuine moment when he won as everyone was really happy for Bryan. There aren't a lot of moments like that and I don't know if it will come across on the DVD, but live it was something I'll never forget.
6) Things got turned up a notch after intermission with the dream tag. KENTA & Kota Ibushi went to a 30 minute draw vs. Naomichi Marufuji & Katsuhiko Nakajima. They then went to a 5 minute overtime, which ended in a draw. This was just unreal. I don't want to hype it too much as I'll let you just watch it for yourself. I've never heard kicks likeNakajima's. This was the most over match of the night with the fans. These guys are really the new stars in Japan.
7) Kensuke Sasaki defeated Roderick Strong in a very even match in about 12 minutes.
8) Nigel McGuinness retained the ROH World Title against Jimmy Jacobs in a classic heel/face match that the fans got into. I have to be honest. I feared for these guys. This was a long show with a lot of great stuff on it. I figured the crowd would be tired and knew they would have a tough time. Instead, they told a great story in the match and the fans totally got into it. Hats off to Nigel and Jacobs.
