We didnt die, so here is what they are saying...

Cern experiment: Machine switched on. No Big Bang. It works
The world watched and waited for the greatest experiment in history to begin. Impressive though it was, it was also a bit like booting up a sulky PC, says Andy McSmith who was at Cern

All was quiet at the moment when the greatest scientific experiment in history was scheduled to begin, at 9.30am Swiss time yesterday. No bands, no flags, no cheerleaders – only a silence so heavy and awed that even the 300 journalists stopped talking.

A machine that has taken 13 years to design and build, at a cost approaching £5bn, and which will advance the frontiers of science was switched on for the first time.

Absolutely nothing happened. This was bad enough for those who were doing live broadcasts, who were supposed to capture breathlessly the excitement of the moment. The project leader at the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (Cern), Lyndon Evans, must have wished a black hole would pop out of his machine and swallow him up. There he was, with his new kit, 6,000 scientists and technicians on hand to operate it, a microphone clipped on his shirt to pick up any swear words he might mutter as the world waited – and the machine was not working.
"Five, four, three, two, one... nothing," Dr Evans said, in a nervous attempt at humour. The reputation of European science hung by a thread for nearly four minutes, until at last the computer screen at the control centre said something had happened. There was a round of applause from everyone present.

"It's not like trying to start your home computer," the press relations woman said later. "It's much, much more complicated."

I disagree. It was exactly like trying to start your home computer. As any Luddite knows, a home computer can detect the moment when it is really important that it should work perfectly, and that is when it develops a glitch. Yesterday was the biggest day in European science for decades. It was the start of the most expensive scientific experiment in history. It was also the biggest PR exercise ever mounted by Europe's scientific community. It was vital nothing went wrong. One small indicator of the uniqueness of the occasion was that Cern staff abandoned the usual standards of scruffiness associated with advanced science. Dr Evans, a miner's son from south Wales, was dressed in a shirt and jeans. His normal work clothes are a T-shirt and shorts. The glitch was caused by a cryogenic problem, cryogenics being the science of producing low temperatures. The temperature inside the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the particle accelerator built by Cern, is about as close to absolute zero as it is possible to get. It is colder than outer space. Around its 27km underground tunnel there are 6,500 magnets, with enough power to cause protons fired into the LHC to accelerate to more than 99.99 per cent of the speed of light. If one of those thousands of magnets is 1C warmer than it should be, or 1mm out of position, it could wreck the experiment. Engineers discovered on Monday night that there was something wrong, and worked frantically to put it right. The night shift on Tuesday discovered more problems. But when the scientists assembled at 9am yesterday, they were briefed that all was now OK. Then came those four doom-laden moments, when it looked as if something else had gone horribly wrong. At last, a beam of protons – hydrogen atoms stripped of their electrons – began its slow progress around the 27km circuit. It was halted at eight points to ensure that it was moving in a perfect path. At point six, it appeared that the beam would have to be dumped and the experiment started afresh, because it was oscillating, but the problem was corrected, and at 10.26am, there was a noisy standing ovation as the beam arrived back where it had begun, having completed a 27km circuit in less than an hour. There are two tubes in the LHC tunnel that are race tracks for protons. In the first, the beam travelled clockwise. The next task was to send another beam anticlockwise around the other tube. That one got back to base at around 3pm to another jubilant ovation. And that was that for day one in the life of the Large Hadron Collider – a good day's work, even though all it has proved is that the machine works. "This is only the start of the commissioning process. It could take years to fully commission," said RĂ¼diger Schmidt, the scientist in charge of hardware commissioning. There is still a long wait for answers to the big mysteries of the universe, such as why some particles have mass when others don't, what is "dark matter", and are there more than three dimensions to the universe? When it is up and running, the LHC will fire beams of protons in opposite direction around the two tubes. They intersect at four points, which is where the energy-laden protons will smash together, replicating the conditions that existed less than a nanosecond after the Big Bang. Above each intersection is a research status where computers will read the data from the collisions. The complex is so vast that visitors need a passport to move from one research centre to another across the Swiss-French border. The LHC is not the world's first particle accelerator, but it is the most powerful, by a factor of about seven. In the US, a plan to build one of this magnitude was abandoned because of the cost. Europe is the world leader in experimental particle physics. Discoveries made in the LHC, which would be impossible anywhere else, could mean Nobel prizes for the British physicists Stephen Hawking and Peter Higgs if their theories turn out to be correct. But Professor Jordan Nash, of Imperial College London, who will help analyse LHC's data said: "It's not about prizes. All of us do it out of fundamental curiosity about how the universe works. We have done all the easy stuff over the last 2,000 years. To push further takes a hugely complex apparatus. What we are going to learn is what nature consists of, not what we think it consists of."The man who devoted 35 years to making it happenJohn Ellis joined Cern in 1973 as 27-year-old theoretical physicist, and has been working there ever since. Yesterday marked the culmination of his life's work. He marked it by wearing a T-shirt displaying the mathematical formula for a Higgs boson, the elusive sub-atomic particle that scientists have hunted for decades. What does this day mean to you and to science? It's the biggest event at Cern since I have been there, without question. I have been here when we have started up previous particle accelerators, but there was nothing on this scale. The hopes are riding so high. Previously when people have started a new accelerator it has always been in the quiet of their laboratory, but we have had the world's press here, and I don't know how many millions of people have followed it on television or on the web. Do you expect to find a Higgs boson, or "God particle", that would explain why some particles have mass, but others have none? What would be more exciting: to find it, or not find it?I expect that it will find one. I am sure that it will either find a Higgs boson or prove that it doesn't exist, though it may take years to do so. If it turns out that there is no Higgs boson, that will be the more exciting discovery because it will mean we have all been barking up the wrong tree for 44 years, and we will have to put our thinking caps back on. Do you expect to find supersymmetrical particles, proving dark matter exists?I think it's more likely than not. It would be really negligent of nature not to exploit supersymmetry. Will the experiment create black holes? It might, but there will be zero risk. Mother Earth has performed this same experiment at least 100,000 times, and we are still here. Do you expect it to prove the existence of a fourth dimensions, or more?Possibly. It would be very exciting if that were to happen, but the arguments are not as strong as in the case of supersymmetry. What will this experiment do for Mr and Mrs Ordinary?Ever since recorded history people have between wanting to understand the universe around them. This is a basic human urge, and it's useful. Nobody thought Einstein's Theory of Relativity had a use when it was first expounded, but you can't operate a satnav without it. I don't know what the LHC is going to find – how can you know? – but it's going to be useful. Andy McSmith What does it all mean – in 35 wordsToday is the most exciting day of my life at Cern so far, but I expect more excitement when the LHC starts discovering things. Maybe the Higgs boson? Maybe supersymmetry? Maybe black holes? Who knows?

We almost all was goners yesterday...

SCIENTISTS are trying to stop the most powerful experiment ever – saying the black holes it will create could destroy the world.

Dubbed by some the Doomsday test, it will be carried out next week in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), located 300ft underground near the French-Swiss border.

The machine is 17 miles long and cost £4.4billion to create.

When its switch is pulled on September 10, this atom-smasher will become a virtual time machine, revealing what happened when the universe came into existence 14 billion years ago.
New particles of matter are expected to be discovered, new dimensions found beyond the four known, as scientists re-create conditions in the first BILLIONTHS of a second after the Big Bang.

Experts even predict that millions of tiny black holes will be produced — baby brothers of the monsters gobbling up dust and stars at the heart of the galaxies.

Secrets
That is why boffins are now trying to stop the project with a last-ditch challenge in the courts.
They fear the LHC experimenters are tinkering with the unknown and putting mankind — and our whole planet — at risk. The group responsible for the experiment, the European Nuclear Research Centre (CERN), says that these mini black holes will vanish as quickly as they are created. But the anti-CERN brigade accuse the scientists of playing God, warning that no one can guarantee that the black holes will not survive, rapidly growing in size to suck the Earth out of existence in an instant. But CERN, which includes several UK scientists, say their work is vital to unlock the secrets of matter that forms everything known in the universe.

In the experiment, atomic particles will be fired in opposite directions along the 17-mile long underground ring — the length of the Circle Line on the London Underground. They will travel so fast that they make 11,245 trips around the tunnel every SECOND. From the collisions, boffins expect to discover a fundamental bit of the atom, called the Higgs boson, that is expected to exist but which has never been seen. Professor Otto Rossler, from the Eberhard Karls University of Tubingen in Germany, is one of the scientists mounting the legal challenge at the European Court of Human Rights against 20 countries which are funding the project.

He said: “It is quite plausible that these little black holes will survive and will grow and eat the planet from the inside out.” A CERN spokesman said: “It will not be producing anything that does not already happen routinely in nature.”

TNA iMPACT!
September 11, 2008
Orlando, Florida (iMPACT! Zone @ Universal Studios)
Commentators: Mike Tenay & Don West
The show starts with a recap of last week. In the parking lot Jerramy Borash approaches Sting and asks him what he has planned for tonight. Sting says, “2 words J.B.: Jeff Jarrett.” Don West & Mike Tenay run down tonight’s card as Samoa Joe’s music hits. The World Champion walks down to the ring through the crowd and immediately calls out Sting. Kevin Nash’s comes out instead and before he can really say anything Joe cuts him off. Joe says that after he’s done with Sting, Nash is next. Nash says he doesn’t blame Joe for wanting to “beat his ass.” Nash then says that he doesn’t believe Joe is ready and says that he’s set up 3 competitors for Joe to face tonight to prove him wrong. Joe accepts but says that after Nash’s 3 “pieces of trash” he’s coming for Sting.
In the back Laruen is with The Beautiful People and Kip James. Angelina Love says that beauty is everything and at No Surrender she’ll become TNA Knockout Champion, but tonight she’s going to humiliate Taylor Wilde. They walk off and Lauren says that Abyss’ challenge is next and Christian Cage walks by.
Abyss’ Open Challenge
“The Monster” Abyss vs. “Instant Classic”
Christian CageTenay officially announces that Abyss and Matt Morgan will face Team 3D at No Surrender in a special challenge Tag Team Match. Christian answers Abyss’ open challenge and this brings back memories of their great feud from a few years ago. They lockup and Abyss tosses Christian to the mat. Christian ducks a clothesline and hits rights and lefts, Christian with an Irish Whip attempt, but Abyss blocks it and whips Christian into the ropes. Abyss misses two clotheslines but catches Christian with a shoulder block. Abyss throws Christian into the corner and goes for the Corner Splash, but Christian moves and hits some chops. Abyss with a big right hand that lays Christian out. Abyss hit’s a big “butt splash” in the corner on a seated Christian for a two count. Christian fights back but a big knee from Abyss stops the attack. Abyss whips Cage into the ropes and goes for a back body drop, but Christian stops and kicks Abyss in the face. Abyss throws Christian straight up into the air to the mat. Abyss now drags Christian to the corner and goes for another splash, but Cage moves and hits two big clotheslines. Christian whips Abyss, but Abyss counters and whips Christian into the corner. Abyss charges but Christian hit’s a back elbow followed by the Corkscrew Back Elbow from the middle rope on Abyss for a two count. Christian with a dropkick to Abyss’ knees and then goes for Frog Splash, but Abyss catches him in midair by the throat. Abyss goes for a Chokeslam but Cage counters into a Unprettier attempt. Abyss reverses that into a back suplex, Christian lands on his feet, and Abyss hit’s the Chokeslam this time for a two count. Abyss goes for the Torture Rack Backbreaker, but Christian counters it into the Unprettier! Kurt Angle runs out and attacks Christian before he can make the pin attempt to cause a NO CONTEST.
Winner: NO CONTEST
Booker T. runs out to help Kurt Angle assault Christian. They beat him down and Kurt Angle runs and gets a chair. Angle gives the chair to Abyss, but Abyss drops it and nails both Booker & Angle. They get the better of Abyss though until Matt Morgan runs out to make the save. Booker and Angle bail out. Morgan grabs the mic and challenges Booker & Angle to a match against him and Abyss later tonight! Angle accepts it! Big Main Event right there. JB is in the ring and its time for “The Beautiful People Beauty Contest.” The judges will be The Prince Justice Brotherhood (Curry Man, Shark Boy, & Super Eric).
Beautiful People Beauty Contest Part 1
Evening Gown Competition Angelina Love w/Velvet Sky & Kip James vs. Taylor Wilde
Apparently the Evening Gown Contest is up first as Love and Wilde make their way to the ring in dresses. Both look great but this is pretty pointless. Wilde & Love take turns strutting in their dress before the judges make their decision. Curry Man picks Angelina Love, Shark Boy picks Taylor Wilde, and Super Eric picks Taylor so Taylor wins the first pointless contest.
Winner: Taylor Wilde (1-0)
In the back Laruen is with Sonjay Dutt. Dutt says that he finally gets his opportunity to win Val’s heart this Sunday at No Surrender. Sonjay cuts a pretty good psycho promo about winning her love by any means necessary and that at No Surrender they’ll be “No Mercy.”
Karen’s Angle w/ Sting
Sting says he isn’t trying to get respect for just the veterans, but for the entire business. Karen asks Sting about his contemplation of retirement a few months ago. Sting says that he was ready to retire but he had a flashback of when he was young and how all the young guys respected Ric Flair, and that when he walked into the room all the young guys would off him their chair. He says now when a veteran walks up its like, “who are you?” He says before he leaves he wants to bring respect back to the business. He says no matter how you feel about Kurt Angle, no legend should be treated the way AJ treated him. He says the same about the Booker and Joe situation. He says that he would’ve never treated Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, or anyone else that way. He says that if respect doesn’t come back to the business it will die. Karen says that the younger wrestlers feel like the veterans wont step aside, and Sting replies by saying that he knows what its like to be the young guy in the locker room, the peon, and the guy with no say. He says the difference is that he had respect. Sting is getting emotional and loud now. He says they need to learn respect. Karen then asks Sting about Jeff Jarrett. Sting says he doesn’t know where Jarrett stands, but he cant wait to find out. Man, great segment and promo from Sting. This thing is really bordering on reality as we all hear the rumors on the internet about young wrestlers thinking the veterans stick around too long to hold their spot and not move aside, and then the veterans saying the young guys have no respect. This is really great.
Tenay & West run down the No Surrender card and its official: Petey Williams vs. Consequences Creed vs. Sheik Abdul Bashir in a three way as Jim Cornette felt that the referee’s involvement in the Creed/Bashir match led to the outcome. I been calling for it and we’ll see it. Also, just announced will be L.A.X. getting their Tag Team Titles rematch against Beer Money!
AJ Styles makes his way to the ring and calls out Frank Trigg as we go to commercial. Back from commercial and Trigg makes his way out to the ring. They show Trigg’s kendo stick attack on AJ last week. Frank calls AJ a “hillbilly” and says that he didn’t have his “hick meter” on so he couldn’t understand half of what AJ said. Trigg reminds AJ that he is an MMA fighter and he gets paid to hurt people intentionally. Trigg says that if AJ wants to fight then they’ll do it his way at No Surrender: 3 fight minute rounds only way to win is knockout or tapout. So it’ll be an MMA fight. AJ agrees to it and they shake hands, but Trigg calls AJ a “little bitch.” AJ then slaps the taste out of Trigg and the fight is on! Security runs to break them up.
Lauren is in the back with Christian Cage. Christian cuts a great promo and puts over the fact that No Surrender will take place only an hour from his home where he grew up and fell in love with wrestling. Christian says that he’s going to win back the TNA Title at No Surrender, 1 hour away from his hometown.
Beautiful People Beauty Contest Part 2
Bikini Contest
Taylor Wilde vs. Angelina Love w/Velvet Sky & Kip James
Taylor shows her bikini off and, wow, the American Flag has never looked so good! Next up is Angelina Love and she goes to the judges and calls Curry Man and Shark Boy over. Angelina then reveals her camo bikini and bends over in front of them, talk about lucky. Don West says the great line: “even J-Lo is jealous of that butt.” Classic. Super Eric picks Taylor, Curry Man picks Angelina, and Shark Boy picks Angelina. That was yet again pretty pointless, but boy was it great to see.
Winner: Angelina Love (1-1)
Bimbo Brawl
Awesome Kong w/Raisha Saeed vs. Roxxi
Tenay announces that at No Surrender Kong will face ODB in a Falls Count Anywhere Match. Kong comes out and nails Roxxi before she gets to the ring. Kong tosses Roxxi into the guardrail and throws her into the crowd. Kong picks Roxxi up by the throat and throws her into a wall! Back at ringside Kong whips Roxxi into the steps but Roxxi jumps onto them and punches away at Kong. Roxxi slams Kong’s head into the steps as we go to commercial. Back from commercials Kong is swinging a staff around like freaking Ninja! Roxxi with a big kick sends Kong to the corner and punches at Kong, but she throws Roxxi back. Roxxi comes back with forearms but Kong again throws her back. Roxxi then hits Kong in the gut with a trash can and then hits her in the face and the back of the head with the trash can lid before hitting another big kick that finally takers her down for a two count. Roxxi gets a chair and sets it up and hit’s a drop toe hold onto it, and then a Bulldog for another two count. Kong out of nowhere hit’s a vicious clothesline. Kong then hit’s a scoop slam on Roxxi onto a chair and goes up the ropes for a middle rope Splash, but Roxxi moves and Kong eats chair! Roxxi gets another two count. Roxxi argues with the referee and this allows Kong time to recover and throws a chair at Roxxi hitting her in the face! Roxxi is busted open big time. Kong follows it up with an Awesome Bomb for the pinfall.
Winner: Awesome Kong via pinfall (Awesome Bomb)
After the match Kong wipes Roxxi’s blood on her hands and licks it! Raisha sets up two chairs and Kong goes for the Awesome Bomb again, but ODB makes the save! Kong bails out and ODB hit’s referee, Slick Johnson, with a chair. This was a nice way to set up their match at No Surrender.
Special Challenge Match #1 “Samoan Submission Machine” Samoa Joe vs. Johnny Devine
Joe looks pissed as he comes to the ring. Devine attacks Joe from behind as the bell rings and hits an uppercut in the corner. Devine with an Irish Whip attempt, but Joe counters and Devine jumps in the corner. Joe catches him in midair and hit’s a Death Valley Driver (DVD) for the quick pinfall.
Winner: Samoa Joe via pinfall (DVD)
Special Challenge Match #2
Samoa Joe vs. Lance Rock w/Jimmy Rave & Christy Hemme
Rave throws a towel at Joe to distract him allowing Rock to attack him from behind. Rock pummels Joe in the corner, but Joe fights back with jabs and big body punches in the corner. Joe whips Rock into the corner and charges, but Rock this and elbow and climbs the ropes. Rock with a Cross Body attempt but Joe calmly moves out of the way. Rave attempts to distract Joe again but Joe knocks him down. Hemme then distracts Joe and Rock charges him, but Joe moves and Rock is able to catch himself before he hits Hemme. When Rock turns around he eats Joe’s boot from a dropkick and then locks in the Clutch. Rock taps out quickly.
Winner: Samoa Joe via submission (Clutch)
Special Challenge Match #3
Samoa Joe vs. Tomko
Joe’s third challenger is the returning Tomko! This should be interesting. Joe and Tomko come face to face and start trading hard punches and forearms in the center of the ring. Joe pushes Tomko into the corner and they trade chops there. Joe comes off the ropes and hit’s a running forearm. Tomko then comes back with a vicious clothesline out of nowhere and then locks in a sleeper. Joe fights to his feet with elbows and punches. Joe comes off the ropes and Tomko grabs him by the throat, but Joe counters with a Superkick! Joe positions Tomko up top for the Muscle Buster, but Tomko counters with punches and a boot. Tomko then flies off the top but Joe catches him with an Atomic Drop in midair. Joe hit’s a big dropkick and then the Senton Backsplash for a two count. Tomko fights back with forearms and comes off the ropes, but Joe catches him with the Snap Powerslam for another two count. Tomko hit’s the Double Barrel Chokeslam out of nowhere for a two count. Tomko sets Joe up for a Powerbomb and points at Kevin Nash at ringside, but Joe counters with a back body drop. Joe then goes for a Corner Splash but Tomko moves. Tomko goes for a Splash of his own but Joe catches him in midair with the ST-Joe! Joe then sets Tomko up on the top rope and hit’s the Muscle Buster for the pin! Pretty good match.
Winner: Samoa Joe via pinfall (Muscle Buster)
After the match Nash congratulates Joe and says that he proved him wrong, and that he “feels sorry for them sons of bitches in Toronto.” Nash says he’s taught Joe all he knows and now he’s on his own. Nash then offers a hand shake and Joe accepts. They hug and Joe holds up his title as we go to commercial.
Beautiful People Beauty Contest Part 3
Talent Competition Angelina Love w/Velvet Sky & Kip James vs. Taylor Wilde
Love’s talent will be an “Oral Presentation” with Velvet & Kip. They do a stupid ‘Knock, Knock’ joke and then Angelina does a poem taking shots at Taylor. Velvet & Angelina then sing “Row, Row Your Boat”, badly. Taylor’s talent will be playing the drums and she’s actually pretty good. Curry Man picks Angelina, Shark Boy picks Taylor, and Super Eric picks Taylor so Taylor Wild wins this very pointless competition.
Winner & TNA’s 1st Ever Most Beautiful Person: Taylor Wilde
Afterward the Beautiful People attack Taylor after she slaps Kip. Kip then attacks Curry Man. Rhino runs out and makes the save for Taylor again, for no reason again.
Main Event“Olympic Hero” Kurt Angle & Booker T. w/Sharmell vs. “The Blueprint” Matt Morgan & “The Monster” Abyss
Morgan and Angle start the match off and Angle locks Morgan up but Morgan hits him with a back elbow. Morgan whips Angle into the corner and hit’s a Big Splash. Morgan with a Sidewalk Slam for a two count. Abyss tags in and punches Angle down in the corner. Angle pokes Abyss in the eyes and hits repeated European Uppercuts. Angle comes off the ropes but Abyss hit’s a Big Boot for a two count. Booker makes the save for Angle but Morgan runs in and clotheslines Booker to the outside as we go to commercial. Back from commercial and Angle hits forearms on Morgan to no phase and Morgan hit’s a big Scoop Slam. Angle then drop toe holds Morgan and hits an Elbow Drop. Angle distracts the referee as Booker chokes Morgan on the ropes. Angle tags in Booker. Booker pounds on Morgan and then hit’s a Back Heel Kick and tags Angle back in. Booker holds Morgan as Kurt pummels him. Kurt goes for a Vertical Suplex, but Morgan counters it into one of his own. Morgan makes the hot tag to Abyss who cleans house. Abyss goes for a Double Chokeslam on Angle & Booker, but they both kick him in the gut. Abyss then comes back with a double clothesline. Abyss goes for the Chokeslam on Booker but Angle hits him from behind. Morgan then comes out of nowhere with the Bicycle Kick on Angle. Morgan goes to the outside to fight with Angle as in the ring Booker goes for the Axe Kick on Abyss, but he counters into the Black Hole Slam! Both men are down now. Abyss tries to pull Angle into the ring but Team 3D runs down and hits him in the head with the chair. Angle quickly covers Abyss to get the win. Another good match.
Winners: Kurt Angle & Booker T. via pinfall
Jeff Jarrett's Return!
Sting is in the ring as we come back from commercial and he calls out Jeff Jarrett. Sting says he doesn’t have a problem with Jarrett, and then calls out Joe. Joe is up in the rafters and he asks Sting if he thinks he’s really disrespecting him or if he’s just insecure. Joe then says that Sting calls him a punk, but he’s really just threatened by Joe. Joe says that he invites Sting to come to No Surrender, but be aware that he want be alone. Jeff Jarrett’s music then hits and Jarrett appears on the top of the big TNA sign with his guitar as pyro goes off and he stares down Sting. Pretty good ending.

Commentators: Todd Grisham & Matt Striker
ECW kicks off with a recap of the Championship Scramble from Unforgiven. With that it is time to “Stop Questioning Your Heart”!Tony Chimel introduces the new ECW Champion, Matt Hardy, and he comes out to cut his first Championship promo. Hardy thanks the fans as well as those that were critical of him, the latter because they are who made him prove them wrong. At this point Mark Henry and Tony Atlas decide to interrupt and make their way down to the ring. Henry wants a rematch and Atlas is upset that Hardy hit him at Unforgiven. Henry levels Matt, but Hardy dodges a clothesline which sends Henry over the top rope and Matt hits Atlas with a Twist of Fate!
Tonight: Finlay & Hardy v. Mike Knox & Henry
****Commercial****
Evan Bourne v. John Morrison w/ Miz
The two lock and twist up in the middle of the ring until Evan Bourne is able to get the advantage with a front headlock. Morrison gets out by backing Bourne into the corner and laying his fists into Evan’s face. Evan Bourne flies over the rope with a Sunset flip and then lays him down with a strong kick to the face. Morrison blocks a hurricarana attempt which looks like it hurt. Morrison now locks on a front headlock of his own. Matt Striker continues his Conservative Political Banter. Bourne hits Morrison with a high dropkick which sends him outside of the ring. Evan springs over the rope and hits a huge hurricarana to Morrison on the outside!
****Commercial****
As we come back, Morrison is going for a quick cover, which seems to have been facilitated by illegal interference on the part of Miz during the commercial. Morrison dodges a splash attempt from Bourne and sends the high flyer to the outside. Morrison picks Bourne up and slams his face into the barricade on the outside. Evan is hanging over the apron and Morrison punts his head. John goes for a cover but no salami. Morrison locks in a side headlock. Bourne gets out and tries for a hurricarana but Morrison counters by slamming Bourne’s head into the top rope. Morrison hits a backbreaker followed by a modified Stroke. Evan is once again held up by a side headlock. They sure use an awful lot of those on ECW. Morrison throws Bourne to the outside and comes out to kick him in the gut before sliding him back in. Morrison once again locks Bourne up in a side headlock. Bourne tries to get up but is met with another backbreaker. Evan kicks and punches his way up and hits a very high kick to Morrison’s temple. Evan Bourne hits a hurricarana followed by a back kick out of nowhere. Evan Bourne goes for a moonsault but fails big time via Morrison’s feet. Morrison goes for his finisher but also fails. Evan goes to the top rope but Miz causes the distraction which forces Bourne to jump to the apron to take out Miz. Morrison springboards and connects with a high kick that turns Bourne inside out. Evan’s head smacks into the apron which may have caused a concussion. Morrison goes for the cover and this is over.
Winner via Springboard Kick: John Morrison
Video recap is shown of the Finlay/Knox feud

“The All American” Jack Swagger v. Josh Daniels
Swagger has a great appearance and strength. Daniels is slammed down to the mat and is locked into a headlock. The rope break causes the separation. Swagger hits a really awesome looking twisting suplex. Swagger hits a sidewalk slam and Daniels kicks out of the pin attempt. Swagger backs Daniels into the corner and then tosses Daniels over his head. Swagger hits a “Blue Thunder Bomb” for the win.
Winner via Blue Thunder Bomb: Jack Swagger
In the back Ricky Ortiz runs into Finlay, ‘swoggle, and Hardy. He offers them a rally towel for good luck. Hornswoggle takes it and bites it. It must have tasted good because he starts shouting and swinging it.
****Commercial****
Hardy & Finlay v. Henry & Knox
Hardy and Henry start things off in the ring. Hardy continues to use his quickness to evade the world’s largest man. Hardy eventually gets thrown down to the ground, which was inevitable. The two exchange blows until Hardy is caught in the air on a crossbody attempt and is thrown to the ground. Henry hits a very hard looking elbow to Hardy on the mat. Hardy is set up in the corner and is met with a splash. Matt manages to dodge the next elbow attempt as we go to commercial.
****Commercial****
As we come back Mike Knox has Hardy locked into a headlock in the middle of the ring. Hardy hits a jawbreaker to escape and tags in Finlay who immediately hits his signature buttplant followed by a spear in the corner and a front Samoan drop. Finlay sends Knox to the outside which is apparently worthy of an ECW chant from the crowd. Back in the ring Henry has locked in a vice grip of a chin lock on Finlay. Knox gets the tag in which presents Finlay with dual shoulder blocks. Knox lays Finlay over the second rope and hits a knee to the back of Finlay’s head. Knox locks in a front headlock down on the mat. Finlay starts to power out and takes shots on both Knox and Henry but he is met with another front headlock. Matt Striker calls moves really well. He either is using names I’ve never heard of or is making them up.Matt Hardy gets the hot tag and demolishes Mike Knox. Hardy hits a bulldog from the second rope and goes for the cover. Pin attempt but no pork chops. Matt Hardy hits the side-effect followed by a sweet looking moonsault. Henry makes the save as Hornswoggle runs into the ring with an IFO [Irish Foreign Object]. Finlay jumps in with an IFO of his own which allows Hardy to hit the Twist of Fate on Knox and get the win.
Winners via Twist of Fate: Matt Hardy & Finlay

Evan Bourne def. Chavo Guerrero -- Good back-and-forth match where I really didn't know who would come away victorious. Bourne delivered an amazing shooting star press to win the match, at the end Bam Neely came in and chased him out of the ring and attended to Chavo.
Winner-Takes-All Match:Santino (C) & Beth Phoenix (C) def. Kelly Kelly & Kofi Kingston -- Intercontinental and Womens titles both on the line in this one. Santino said some junk before the match, but I couldn't really understand it since there was a lot of noise around me. The pleasures of having seats five rows back from the ring. Pretty good match, ended with Kofi going for a suplex inside of the ring to Santino, and Beth Phoenix holding his feet down, allowing Santino to get the pin.
Primo Colon def. William Regal -- Nice to see Regal again, I've always enjoyed his style. Not an amazing match, lots of knees from Regal, Primo comes away with this one after what I believe was a roll-up, but I can't recall. Regal looked distraught after the match.
United States Title triple-threat elimination match:Shelton Benjamin (C) def. Carlito and R. Truth -- R. Truth came out first, shouted "What's Up" a few times and was followed by Carlito and The Gold Standard. Carlito's sporting dreads now, I see, kind of made me think of the pirates of the Carribbean for some reason. Carlito was eliminated first in the match, then he did his finisher on R. Truth (lots of TNA chants for him, by the way), and left the ring. The match continued for about ten minutes and Shelton ended up winning after what I am to understand is called the "PayDirt". Tony Chimel comes out and tells us it's intermission time, so I take the opportunity to grab myself a CM Punk shirt. Much to my shagrin, he was not there tonight. Much to my brother's dismay, neither was Jeff Hardy. Oh, well.
WWE Tag Team Championship match:Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase (C) def. Cryme Tyme -- The line at the merchandise and concession stands were incredibly long, but from what I can piece together, the champs retained.
ECW World Title match:Mark Henry (C) def. Matt Hardy -- Earlier in the night, Chimel told us to text what kind of stipulation we wanted in this match, apparently the fans chose a 'no disqualification match'. Much to Mark Henry's disliking, Tony Atlas was told that if he laid a hand on Hardy, the World's Strongest Man would lose the belt. Got some nifty shots of the action and it was actually a pretty good match in my opinion, the crowd was really into it. The finish involved Atlas, which I was kind of confused about since he was told he couldn't interfere, when he rolled into the ring and yanked a chair away from Matt Hardy before he could smack Mark Henry in the head, Hardy disposes of Atlas, Henry gives Hardy the World's Strongest Slam, and that's that.
Main Event:Six Man tag team match:Triple H, Big Show, & Rey Mysterio def. Great Khali, MVP, & Kane -- I was kind of surprised that this was the main event, but at the same time, six high-profile wrestlers is bound to be something along those lines. Anyway, the match was pretty decent. MVP got a lot of jeers. Match went on for about 15-20 minutes, Rey Mysterio was in the ring most of the time, getting thrown all over the place as usual. Towards the end of the match, he hit a 619 on MVP, and maybe inadvertantly, the Great Khali (in the groin). Trips hits the Pedigree on Khali (very sloppy, but hey, what can you do), gets the pin, everyone waves, hand out high-fives, sign autographs, and leaves.

* Sid Vicious confirmed the rumors of him coming back to the WWE.
