Aight, Ima start off by saying that my personal baseball piccs from yesterdays action left me with a win-loss record of 5-4. My piccs for the week so far are 32-28 - 53% after posting a 5-9 record on Monday, a 7-8 record on Tuesday, and a 11-4 record on Wednesday to add to my Thursday record of 5-4.
As many of you already know, my White Sox got Ken Griffey Jr. in a trade from the Cincinatti Reds yesterday, which should DEFINATLY help out in the race to achieve the World Series crown for 2008. In other baseball action, it was a slow Thursday with only 9 games on the slate. It does look like Manny Ramirez will REMAIN a Boston RedSox, which if you read my previous blog, you know my opinion on what that does to the AL East and Wild Card scenarios for September. In games that matter from yesterday, The Detroit Tigers lost to Cleveland 9-4 pushing them even FARTHER behind the White Sox to 6 games. Of course, the game of the day with the most importance was the Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers playing in Milwaukee. The Cubs jumped off to a HUGE lead 5-0 by TWO Jim Edmonds Home Runs! (YES, I said old ass Jim Edmonds…one was a grand slam…he only has 13 for entire season) The final score was 11-4 and the Cubs were able to go up 5 games on Milwaukee in the NL Central. HUGE UPDATE @ 4:49pm!!! MANNY RAMIREZ was traded to the LOS ANGELES DODGERS!!!! Boston ended up getting Jason Bay as part of a three team trade with the Pirates! Oh shit, that was a surprise. Looks like Boston isn’t QUITE as fucced since they got Bay in return, but loosin Manny is still HUGE! Now, with Manny Ramirez going to the Dodgers, it does change my opinion of the NL West. My previous prediction was that Arizona would win that division. My opinion and prediction is now that the Los Angeles Dodgers WILL win the NL West. YES, one player makes that much difference when that player is Manny Ramirez. Bacc to the action, My Chicago White Sox lost to Minnesota yesterday 10-6 to drop the White Sox to 60-47 and their lead over Minnesota to a very small ½ game over Minnesota in the Central Division. The Angels beat the Yankees 12-6. Atlanta beat St. Louis 9-4. Seattle beat Texas 8-5. Philadelphia beat Washington 8-4. Florida beat Colorado 12-2, and Arizona beat the Dodgers 2-1 to raise their lead in that division over the Dodgers to 2 games. In that game, Brandon Webb won his 15th game to go to 15-4.
In NBA news, many of you should know by now that Ron Artest is now a HOUSTON ROCCETT!!! Yao Ming, Artest, and Tracy McGrady should be a great BIG THREE for Houston…The West just got a lot more interesting. Oh yea, I forgot to mention that there is ALREADY a war of words between Ron Artest and Yao Ming. Ron feels disrespected ALREADY…lol. Of course, if ya didn’t know, former NBA referee, Tim Donaghy was sentenced to 15 months in prison for his role in fixing games and betting on basketball. LOL! What a succa!
In the NFL, The Tennessee Titans brought in QB Byron Leftwich for workouts. Leftwich obviously hopes to get the opportunity to backup Vince Young. Also, Safety John Lynch has now left the Denver Broncos, adding to their off-season losses. Brett Favre was offered $20,000,000 over 10 years to STAY RETIRED. God Damn, Green Bay doesn’t want him to go anywhere else. In my opinion, if Brett wants to play, he DESERVES the right to play. If they don’t want him to be their starting QB, then FUCC EM.
